What, why and how?
Introducing our first explainer series, where slideshow meets podcast; sprinkled with some motion blur.
At SundayGrids, we often have long-drawn conversations about crafting our storytelling. Oft led by design and narrative interactions, this perhaps gets more spotlight than anything else. But at the same time, it’s a double-edged sword; coz we are not the biggest fans of how much stuff is there to read on the site.
And it’s so hard to trim down to, condensing can often lead to being vague and being a very new framework for solar, we really need to steer away from potential ambiguity. But we knew from the very beginning of working on Digital Solar that is going to be an evolving aspect. There is always a ton more we could do to tighten up the storytelling and make the narrative more fluidic without knotting up our audience in cognitive traps.
Happy to report the quest continues….
But sometimes, the best way to solve too much document-ness is no document at all. We toyed around with the idea of expressing the contents of the platform through a more personal narration, something in a video-first format where these idea clusters can be broken down into their units and use visual nudges to navigate through.
After much thought on how to go about it, we recently also released a three-part explainer series and reused scraps from some of the ideas-in-progress we have around an upcoming site redesign.
The objective of the explainer was to address the following;
What is Digital Solar? And who is it for?
How does it work?
And, in what ways does it differ from rooftop solar?
Hope this helps answer some of the basic-core questions around Digital Solar.
Also as mentioned earlier, we are also using these videos to see if the redesign we are currently experimenting with works. It would be great if you could take a look and let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
